Este es un programa para la familia que le ayudará a romper con la desesperación y el aislamiento, a través de comprender y recibir apoyo para personas que tienen un miembro de familia que sufre de:

  • Depresión Severa
  • Trastorno Bipolar (También conocido como Depresión Mániaca)
  •  Esquizofrenia
  • Trastorno Esquizo-Afectivo
  • Ansiedad y Pánico
  • Trastorno Obsesivo y Compulsivo
  • Diagnóstico Doble (Abuso de sustancias y enfermedad mental)

Esta serie de 12 clases, la cual se lleva a cabo una vez por semana, está diseñada para ayudar a los miembros de familia a educar, comprender y apoyar a nuestros seres queridos, mientras logran mantener un ambiente de salud personal y de bienestar en el hogar.

See additional qualifications below.

Applications are now being received for the following Family Program Education Trainings:

  • January 29-31: Family-to-Family – Stockton
    (Note: This particular training requires the affiliate to pay for trainee’s hotel cost)
  • February 20-22:  Family Support Group – Modesto
  • March: Family-to-Family – Ventura
  • April: Basics and Family-to-Family – Ontario

Applications are now being received for the following Peer Program Trainings*:

  • January 29-31: Peer-to-Peer – Stockton
  • February: Connection – Southern California, location to be announced soon
  • March: Peer-to-Peer – Ventura
  • No IOOV trainings are scheduled by NAMI California at this time

*Important Note:  There will be additional trainings offered for all the programs above. These workshops will be hosted by affiliates and sponsored by NAMI California in the form of small grants. Interested affiliates should contact for details on how to apply for a grant. Training opportunities are announced by region as they become available.

Qualifications for training: Interested parties should be NAMI members in good standing and ideally have graduated from the same education program they intend to teach. A participant also needs to be recommended by their local NAMI chapter. Additional qualifications will apply. Please ask your NAMI affiliate to contact Family and Peer Programs Supervisor, Lynn Cathy at  or Erik Villalobos, Family and Peer Program Coordinator at to receive an application via email. Prospective teachers/facilitators should return their applications in a timely manner as these workshops fill quickly.

2nd Annual Parent & Caregiver Conference

conference love treeThe NAMI Los Angeles County Council and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health is presenting the 2nd Annual Parent & Caregiver Conference at St. Anne’s, 155 N. Occidental Blvd., Los Angeles, 90026, on Saturday, February 20, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m.

The conference is to feature expert speakers and workshops for parents and caregivers who have one or more loved ones of any age with a mental illness. Attendees will gain knowledge on how to provide stability and guide their loved one(s) to a healthy and exceptional life.

Registration is $10.00 (which includes lunch and parking) Limited scholarships are available.
