Employment, Training and Rehabilitation

California Department of Rehabilitation

The California Department of Rehabilitation works in partnership with consumers and other stakeholders to provide services and advocacy resulting in employment, independent living and equality for individuals with disabilities.

Social Security

One of the Social Security Administration’s highest priorities is to support the efforts of disabled beneficiaries who want to work. The SSDI and SSI programs include a number of employment support provisions commonly referred to as work incentives. The Red Book is a general reference tool designed to provide a working knowledge of these provisions. It is written for educators, advocates, rehabilitation professionals, and counselors who serve persons with disabilities.

Countywide Employment and Education

Countywide Employment and Education provides oversight of the employment and educational services in the Department of Mental Health clinics and the State Department of Rehabilitation/DMH Cooperative Agreement. Countywide Employment and Education also develops resources and provides training and technical assistance to those providing employment and education services throughout the mental health system including the Mental Health Services Act funded Full Service Partnership and Wellness Center Programs. Employment services include vocational assessments and assistance with job development, placement and retention.
